How Much is that in Real Money?

Wednesday September 17, 2003
My friend Jack has an aversion to riding in any car going faster than a slug, so, upon preparing for his trip to Italy, he learned the words for "Driver, if you don't slow down, I will vomit!" He had a nice, if leisurely, vacation.

That phrase might not have made Jack the quintessential ugly American, but did you know that with just minutes of study you can learn such ugly phrases as "It's better in the States" or "Did your face get that way in the war?" It's all there--in 7 languages no less--in the Zompist Phrasebook. Of course, if you really want to study just a little of the languange of the country you wish to travel to, try our Foreign Languages for the Tourist - Is English Enough? Page two will let you in on a little language school experience.
