Tuscany Closer to Home

Thursday September 25, 2003
Don't have time for a real Europe Vacation? An idea that seems to be taking hold (and making the world smaller) is hosting festivals in two places across the globe at the same time. This weekend, for example, is the 1st International Italian Marble Mosaic Competition held in San Francisco as part of Celebrazione Italiana at the Yerba Buena Gardens. On the same weekend, the very same event will be held in the Piazza Duomo in Tuscany's famed marble-working city, Pietrasanta. The winner of the SF competition gets a show in Pietrasanta and visa versa. You'll even be able to vote for your choice online.

For more on visiting Tuscany yourself, see our Tuscany Map and Travel Resources. Or point your mouse toward northern Tuscany and visit the Lunigiana region.
