Italian Day Trip (Gita) and Wine
Wednesday December 10, 2003
If you're really into European food and dining, you must check out eGullet, where you'll find all manner of articles and discussion on food and wine. This week Craig Camp lets us in on an Italian Gita to Mantova, where a whole bussload of folks take to eating and drinking in the Italian manner--meaning it pretty much takes up the whole afternoon. Great article, especially if you're new to travel in Italy and are wondering how a big Italian meal is structured. Craig also leads a trip to Vinitaly, the huge Italian wine show for serious Italian wine afficionados in Late March, where "You would have to taste over 2,000 wines an hour for every day the show is open to taste them all."
