Greece: Discovering the Ancient Olympic Games

Wednesday December 31, 2003
You might not get to the Athens Olympics, but the European traveler can discover all sorts of things about the ancient games by just wandering around Greece's Peloponnese. Go to Isthmia and you'll find signs of cheating and the methods used to prevent it. Climb the steep hill at Delphi to get a peek at the stadium and the ancient graffiti on its walls, or go to Nemea, where you can even participate in a re-creation of the ancient games during the summer of 2004. We have a map of the ancient panhellenic game sites, information, as well as facts and myths about the ancient games.
