Putting Sicily on your Travel Map

Tuesday April 20, 2004
If there's a place in the Mediterranean where Africa, Italy and Greece come together, it's gotta be at Sicily, the triangle Island where the ferocious earth meets the sea. Visit Mount Etna, the cantankerous volcano that never seems to rest, or just circumnavigate its seething flanks. See Phoenician settlements, Punic cities, Roman amphitheaters, Greek temples, Norman castles and Aragonese churches. Possibilities seem endless. Life moves forward slowly, as do the trains. It's all part of the charm of Sicily. See our Sicily Map and Travel Resources page for transportation information and some hints on what to see and do. And just for the record, it was browsing through my pictures of Erice that got me thinking about travel to Sicily again.
