Last Minute Europe Vacations: Is Athens Cheap Again?

Tuesday August 10, 2004
You a procrastinator? Well then, you might just be able to swing a bargain in Athens during the Olympics. According to a story in the Independent, Olympic Game seats aren't selling as fast as they thought. Ticket sales are "down by between 20 and 30 per cent on expectations in the United Kingdom...Up to 6,000 hotel rooms in Athens are still up for grabs despite the pre-Games hype that they were sold out two years in advance."

Or you can skip the sweltering city and discover the Ancient Sites of the Panhellenic Games. Cheaper with fewer crowds; I can live with that.
