An appealing stop along Germany's Castle Road: Schwabisch Hall
Wednesday September 22, 2004
Schwabisch Hall. Sounds like an unlikely name for an old, German city, doesn't it? But the name refers to the salt that kept the villagers in loot since about the fifth century BC. Today, in a river setting with its fine half-timbered houses and interesting market square, Schwabisch Hall is, to me, one of the most asthetically pleasing towns in Southern Germany. See our Schwabisch Hall Pictures to see what I mean, and check out our Schwabisch Hall Travel Guide for information on getting there and seeing things.
