Is This the Time for Travel to Portugal?

Tuesday March 8, 2005
Portugal is one of western Europe's most inexpensive countries for the tourist, a good thing now that the Euro is hovering near its highs against the dollar. Head out to the countryside in Portugal and the dividends start multiplying. Chaves, a rural outpost in far northern Portugal near the border with Spain, offers a great tourist value in a spa town with a Roman bridge that's still transporting traffic, a fort you can stay inside, and a castle containing a military museum. See our Chaves Travel Guide or look at a few pictures of Chaves attractions.

Portugal is expecting travel to pick up considerably this year. Besides, Mel Gibson is said to be planning a movie in Portugal about the three children who claimed they saw a vision of the Virgin Mary at Fatima. Why not tiptoe travel's cutting edge and get some info on visiting Portugal with our Portugal Map and Travel Essentials?
