Virtual Travel: Cathar Landscapes

There are lots of pictures of Cathar Castle ruins on the web, but this particular set was shot with the intention of showing not just pretty pictures of the ruins, but the relation between the castles and the landscape that surrounds them. Not all of what we call the Cathar Castles were built by the persecuted religious sect, but the area of southern France we call "Cathar Country" in the Aude region is one of my favorite off the beaten track European destinations.
