The web is a great way to transmit information, but sitting down with a good book is magic. Lots of work went into the craft of font production, and it continues today. If you're interested in the origins of the printing process, a fascinating museum to visit is the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp, Belgium. You'll find out how printers lived and work, and how highly regarded the craft was in 16th century Belgium. See Visiting the Plantin-Moretus Museum of Printing in Antwerp, Belgium.
