High Tech Slow Speed Tours of Cordoba, Spain

Monday August 29, 2005
Take one silent, electric powered, two seat "car." Combine it with a bunch of open source software and GPS so that when said car passes within 100 meters of something interesting the appropriate text, audio and video pops up on the handy 8.5 inch flat panel screen on the dash between the driver and passenger, and you've got a Blobject. Blobject is a Spanish company based in Córdoba. When they're not messing with the software or modifying the Gems (those'd be the cars: Global Electric Motorcars) they're recharging them and renting them to tourists. What a way to see old Cordoba!

You can read about the technology on Alfredo Romeo's Blog and get prices on the tours (they also do Segway tours). BBC features the cars and tours in Green petite cars tempt tourists. And we have Cordoba Spain Travel and Tourism Information for you.
