Should Flying be a Gamble? You Bet!

Friday November 11, 2005
If you've flown over the last 40 years or so, you've noticed how much like bus travel it has become to fly to your destination. You got your long lines, your crammed-together seats, your tiny restrooms, and your cheap prices.

Now Ryanair wants to give away free seats--on planes equipped with gambling apparatus. I am envisioning a huge handle attached to the seat back in front of you that you pull energetically to see if you've won--after you've donated a few tokens, of course. A jackpot means you don't have to take off your shoes for the security check--or let them see you naked in Backscatter x-rays.

But Sharon O'Brien probably can give you a better idea of what's up in Free Airfare - Ryanair is Betting on In-Flight Gambling to Enable Free Airfare. I'm thinkin' "Honey, pack the kids--and check on their blue book value just in case I hit a losing streak, eh?"
