Valentine's Day in Britain and Grappa

Thursday December 29, 2005
Europe Daily Travel News has collected some very interesting short breaks for Valentine's Day. I'm sorta partial to the "Aphrodisiacs Adventure" since it says you "get wrapped in rich chocolate in the spa" and all. It's always a surprise when you bite into something wrapped in chocolate, especially if it bites back...

And what goes better with chocolate than grappa? Tony Aspler, The Wine Guy, reports that Sandro Bottega, a grappa producer from Veneto, has "created a new grappa-based Amaro and a white chocolate grappa to go along with his milk chocolate grappa."

Did you know that the leading distilled spirit in Italy is grappa, which has captured over 20% of the market? Italy has moved to protect the idea that grappa comes only from Italy, and has won a European Union seal of approval, meaning that it can't be called "grappa" if it's made in South Africa, Argentina or the United States. Read more about grappa in Italian Grappa protected by seal of origin in Italy Magazine.
