Bargain Airlines - Is a Cheap Flight your Best Bet in Europe?

Are short, bargain flights within Europe faster than taking the train? Sure, the short flight times make your eyes light up when you see them, but there are other time drains associated with flying that you might not have thought of, especially if you have tons of baggage to claim.
