World Cup Soccer Meets Swiss Cow-Milking Beefcake

Monday April 10, 2006
Planning a trip to Germany between June 9th and July 9th? Well, reserve everything early, because one of the world's biggest sporting events will be taking place then--Soccer's World Cup. Record crowds are expected.

Of course, Soccer is pretty much a guy thing. So the tourism wizards in Switzerland decided to try to attract the presumably neglected womenfolk by whipping up some television commercials featuring beefy boy-toys singing siren songs of Switzerland that will run in France, Germany and Switzerland beginning in May. The commercials end with "Mr. Switzerland 2005, milking and then leaning up against a cow," according to Reuters. You'll not want to miss that.

Perhaps if you're not into soccer and not quite ready to spend time with a beefy Swiss cow-milker, you might want to take a no-soccer vacation in Switzerland that includes "1 day of Nordic walking, 1 day bike hire and 1 relax day with a massage (30 min.) and in the evenings 2 episodes of Desperate Housewives including a 'son of nature' cocktail in the interval." No, I have no idea what a "son of nature" cocktail is, but I probably wouldn't order one knowingly. But that's just me, I'm sure.
