Free at Last! Vacation Tips for a Frugal Good Time in Europe
I jest not, free is good. The guy to the left over there thinks you'd be nuts to pass up free things on your European vacation.
When you're juggling your vacation plans--trying to decide between staying in cities or in the countryside--remember that cities can be more expensive to stay in, but they offer a whole lot of opportunity to really enjoy yourself for free. You can wander around gaping at the exotic architecture, peeking at ancient ruins popping out of the ground, sliding reverently into churches to see priceless art and you can participate in many other cost free activities, like open air markets for example. Here are some things About.com guides recommend you do on your vacation that you won't have to pay for:
- Rome for Free
- London for Free
- More London for Free
- Madrid and Barcelona for Free
- Amsterdam for Free
- Paris for Free
- Ireland for Free
The picture on the left was taken at a free medieval festival in Fosdinovo, Italy. Not only was the festival free, but the food was local, tasty, and cheap. You can't beat that with a stick.
