Europe by Train

Thursday November 1, 2007
After 30 years of travel to Europe, trains are still my favorite way to get between cities. Sure, there are now alternatives, but some of the romance of train travel is returning.

In just two weeks, starting November 14th, Eurostar will depart from England's "Railway Cathedral" St. Pancras International. S. Pancras has been gutted and returned to its Victorian Gothic splendor. You can sip in front of a 90 meter Champagne bar, the longest in Europe. Then you can make a quick getaway from London; Eurostar trains can now travel at up to 186 mph all the way to the chunnel.

Never been on a European train? Well, maybe it's time, eh? We have lots of resources for the first-time traveler and the travel planning pro. See Europe by Train - Planning your Trip by Rail in Europe
