Need to Learn a Little Portuguese?

Tuesday July 1, 2008
Let's say you're planning a vacation in Europe that won't break the bank. You have a few city days in Lisbon, then head out in your rental car for the joys of the Alentejo. You fall in love with rural Portugal, but you realize that you'd be able to function better in restaurants and cafes if you just knew a few words of the language...

Why not grab a language kit, some CDs and a book, and learn some European Portuguese? We've just reviewed Take Off in Portuguese from Oxford University Press, and despite a few quibbles, we like it. Like Portugal, it won't break the bank.
