Fall Beer Festivals in Europe

Yeah, you all know Oktoberfest in Munich. It's hard to get into the tents; even harder now that you've let it go so late. But did you know that there are other big festivals as well featuring more different beers than you could possibly drink in an evening or two? Yes, there's the Cannstatt Beer Festival in Stuttgart, for example, that runs from September 27 to October 12, 2008.

Outside of Germany the biggest beer festival would include the European Beer Festival 2008 in Copenhagen running from the 12th - 14th of September 2008. Around 50 Dutch and Belgian bokbiers (a fall bock beer) are served up at the PINT Bokbierfestival at Beurs van Berlage (the Old Stock Exchange) in Amsterdam.

If that isn't enough, or you don't speak the language, Weymouth Occoberfest 2008 is held on the 3rd and 4th of September this year.

There are beer festivals at all times of the year. A good source to seek them out worldwide is The Campagne for Real Ale's Events Page or the massive Beer Festival Calendar. For the current month's monthly beer festival schedule, see Beer Festival Schedule from Bryce Eddings, About.com's guide to beer.

Have fun. Try not to burp. Excessively I mean.
