Train Toilets and Cell Phones - Oh My!

Friday October 31, 2008
You see people multitasking with their cell phones everywhere they're not doing anything that needs their attention, like driving a car, or...using the toilet on a French TGV train:
A passenger on a French train had to be rescued by firemen after having his arm sucked down the on-board toilet. ~ Man's arm trapped in train toilet

You see, this unidentified man had dropped his cell phone down the chute and was fearlessly trying to fish it out. Mon Dieu! A toilet on a train is just about the last place on earth I'd stick my arm. He paid for his bad judgment though. He was removed on a stretcher with the toilet still attached to his arm. No reports on whether he was clutching the phone or not.

So, the moral of the story is: Don't do this. Some train (and plane and ship) toilets suck. I mean they use suction rather than a waterfall to wash things away. Don't put anything down there you'll want to use later.
