Paris for Foodies
I once lamented the demolition of Les Halles, the 1850s covered market designed by Victor Baltard, over several gulps of so-so Burgundy. Somehow, that corner of Paris would never be the same. It's a tougher life now. The market has been moved to a suburb and you can't just walk in and gawk at everything that might be considered edible by humans.
George Pandi to the rescue. I've had the pleasure of meeting George on a Eurostar run. He writes of how the intrepid might get into the big market that replaced Les Halles at Rungis, near Orly Airport (it's not easy). George has put together a very good and informative read: The great, big belly of Paris
Then there's the work of Chocolate & Zucchini's Clotilde, who has not only written a book called Edible Adventures in Paris, but has mapped all her hidden foodie secrets on a Google map burdened by an overload of edible delight icons: Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris Maps.
