Travel planning? You might want to visit Greenland before it becomes a palm-studded retirement island for decrepit movie stars. Here's an idea of how to spend those 22 hours or so of summer sun. According to the lit:

"Adventure Camp Greenland," is an exclusive multi-activity camp in East Greenland. The seven-day program offers a wealth of adventure activities to select from daily, including hikes, glacier trekking, and canoeing amongst the icebergs, culminating in evenings filled with Greenlandic barbecue, entertainment and storytelling. Camp dates are July 11-18 and July 18-25; cost begins at $2,550.00 (not including airfare to and from Tasiilaq, East Greenland). For more information, email ast (at) ammassalik.gl.

Today East Greenland has a whopping population of about 3500 people spread out over two towns and seven settlements. Privacy won't be hard to come by.

For those looking for culinary adventure, one need look no further than The Ammassalik Kitchen--where you can get the national dish of Greenland, "suaasat", a soup of boiled seal meat with onions and rice--and where whale skin is health food. For more yummy facts, check out the East Greenland web site. The slogan needs a bit of work though: "East Greenland is not scenery – it’s savagery." Be prepared.

For those who'd like less savagery and more swimming pools, Hurtigruten offers cruises to Greenland. You can even embark on a special voyage with Oceanographer & New York University Professor Dr. David Holland to learn of the effects of climate change in Greenland.

Greenland wouldn’t like you calling them ‘European’ – they are the only country to leave the EU (having been brought in as a colony of Denmark) because they felt closer to Canada – physically and culturally – than Europe.
