When you look at 2009's most expensive cities you're likely to be surprised, especially if you're a frequent traveler to Europe. London isn't the wallet-drainer it used to be, plummeting from the world's most expensive city to 21st place. The economic upheaval has shuffled the deck.
Just in time for Oktoberfest, Munich has risen to 11th place from last year's 15th. Rome has gotten more expensive, while Milan fell from 20th place to 30th. Odd, no?
And speaking of Milan, Milan Fashion Week is on as I type. There's good news (well, for some of us anyway): the miniskirt is back!
