Yesterday they announced the routes for the 2010 Giro d'Italia, the Italian bike race preceding the Tour de France on the racing schedule. Guess where it starts (and remains for three days? Amsterdam. It's not like they're following our Amsterdam to Italy itinerary, either. Nope. They'll spend three days touring Holland, then jet to Italy to continue. The Tour de France will start in Holland as well.
Last year I saw a few stages, and really liked it. I was glad that this year the 6th stage will pass right through the Lunigiana, practically past my house on the way to Carrara, where they'll see the famed marble quarries from a distance. They'll also make a stage start in L'Aquila in the Abruzzo.
Here's information on the routes.
