Many cities offer dramatic lighting of their monuments and buildings at night, but Rome has to be one of the most spectacular places to stroll after dark. Shown in the picture is the Arch of Constantine, Arco di Costantino, which sits triumphantly between the Colosseum and Palatine Hill.
At this time of year, you might be surprised at the activity on the streets. Even on the chilly nights you'll see shoppers stop for something to warm them in an outdoor cafe; the Cafes of the Campo di Fiori were packed when we visited in December.
