We're on a quest. It requires lots of research of the gustatorial type. Meaning, of course, that I'm eating lots--and learning more about Tuscan food than I ever thought possible in a short time. It is a crash course. The data, if all goes well, will turn into an iPhone app that will whisk you to the hot foodie spots in Tuscany.
A single, solitary person cannot do it all, of course. We've some pretty knowledgeable people helping us. Today, for example, Martha and I explored the gustatorial pleasures of Versilia's largest town (in area), Camaiore, which stretches from the sea to the mountains, with ace personal concierge Serena Giovannoni of Wish Versilia. Serena will plan your wedding or take you to the best food producers in northern Tuscany. She's also a walking encyclopedia of knowledge on the area's best restaurants. So perhaps if you're interested in making your vacation special, you might consider a personal travel planner like Serena.
If you follow Serena's Facebook page, you'd know that "Puccini festival 2011 program is coming out...operas open with Boheme new settings on July 15 to close on August 27th." You could then have Serena plan a whole trip around your favorite operas playing along the placid Torre del Lago Puccini.
