Ever since my neighbor, who'd been out hacking on a bush, came to my door, pointed towards the mangled plant and grunted, "Does that look like a dog to you?" I've been interested in (real) topiary, the art of shaping plants into whimsical forms.
Then I saw this great picture of a frozen fountain at the Würzburg Residenz, a UNESCO Heritage site along the Romantic Road and began to read about the kitchen garden, where they've been experimenting with bringing back the old horticultural art by crafting the fruit trees into shapes in the kitchen garden.
Ah, frozen fountains and peach trees in the shape of a hot fudge sundae goblet. You never know what you'll come across on your vacation.
