| Part 3: European Sewer Tours: Paris, Vienna and Beyond. |
European Sewer Tours Sewers. Why are they so ...enticing? Thousands each year go below Paris or Vienna to trample through moist, smelly underground places. Maybe it was Orson Welles' forced tour through the Vienna sewer system a half century ago in "The Third Man" that turns people on to sewers. The sewers of Paris have always held a prime spot in Francophile's itinerary. The book "Take Your Kids to Europe" recommends the Paris Sewer Tour as something the little tykes might enjoy. ("Take Your Kids to Europe: How to Travel Safely & Sanely in Europe with Your Children" (compare prices) is a recommended book about where to stay, where to eat, language skills, and finding affordable fun for the family.) For information on Paris Sewer tours, see Musée des Egouts de Paris. That's the official Museum of the Sewers of Paris. You will certainly be amused by this review of their tour. Ooze magazine is doing a review called the European Capitol Sewer Tour--if they ever get around to it. Photos
