Hotel Su Gologone Review
This resort hotel in the heart of Sardinia's Barbagia region features local cuisine and supports traditional Sardinian arts and music

Su Gologone lies at the foot of the Supramonte mountains, near the spring of Gologone. The hotel consists of rooms (and a few suites) scattered about the hotel property. What I like about the hotel is its dedication to local cuisine and customs.

You'll want to sign up for at least half board (mezza pensione). That'll get you a huge buffet breakfast and enormous traditional lunch or dinner, with food prepared as it has been in these parts for hundreds of years.

It's quiet in these parts. The hotel grounds are an island of calm, with gardens, shaded walkways strewn with ancient worked stone from roman and bronze age cultures.

The hotel has several tours available, and the English speaking staff can direct you to the many cultural sites and events in the area. This is the easiest place to start to explore the prehistoric village of Tiscali, which is located inside the collapse of a mountain [read more about Tiscali]. The hotel staff knows the local guides and can arrange a tour when you check in. The hotel is also close to Orgosolo [read more about Orgosolo and its mural tradition and its music].

The half board price (from the website below) for a double room is 112 Euro per person until July 5th, the high season, when the price goes to 119 per person.
