PowerShot S60 Camera Review - Lens Range
How much more can you get into a picture with the Canon S60's Wide Angle
Lens?
The picture on the
left is taken at about 45mm equivalent, considered a "normal" focal
length on 35mm cameras. It was as far back as I could get to take a picture of
this historical strength measuring machine. The picture on the right was taken
from the same spot with the lens at full wide angle--28mm equivelent. Notice
how much more you can fit in the scene. It would have been better to take the
picture on the right at a lower angle so that the parallel lines wouldn't tend
to converge--but I'm getting to old for squatting just to get a test picture.

Now
the fragment of picture below is interesting to me. The exif
information on the picture on the left above tells me it was
taken at 1/20th of a second.at f 3.5, or wide open for this
lens. The picture below is an unretouched segment of the sign
in the lower right of that photo. Darn sharp considering the
hand-held lon exposure time with a wide open lens and lots
of jpeg compression.
