Any introduction to the eye-popping beauty of the Azores Islands would be remiss if it didn't mention San Miguel island's Nordeste region. It's sparsely populated, easy to get to from the Azores' major International airport at Ponta Delgada, and it's well set up for tourists to enjoy that beauty with many "belvedere," fully equipped places where you can picnic while enjoying breathtaking views of the ocean and countryside.
