Rural Tourism in the Azores - Turismo no Espaço Rural

Rural tourism is very popular in the Azores. Mostly, this is because the informed traveler is in the Azores precisely because of an appreciation of the natural beauty the islands posses. Rural farms--often called Quintas in the literature--and rural manor houses restored as bed and breakfasts are the ideal places to spend a bulk of your time in the Azores.

If you're already in the Azores, look for the sign in the picture on the upper right. That's the Alojamento em Espaço Rural or Rural Accommodation sign. In the high season, which tends to be in spring when all the flowers are blooming in the Azores, you'll definitely have to make reservations to get space in one.
