Sometimes you think, "Gosh, wouldn't it be great if you didn't have to stop sightseeing just to get some food down your gullet?" Or maybe you're in a gondola zipping up a Swiss Alp and you're thinking "I wish we could sit down at a comfortable table inside this little gondola and have dinner while the gondola goes up and down the mountain."
Well, you can do all these things on your European vacation. I'll tell you how
Eating in a Gondola above Sattel, Switzerland
Ok, so what do you think about having your own intimate dining experience inside a gondola zipping 1,800 meters from valley floor to a mountain top and back, each time getting a course from the chef in the Gault-Millaut Restaurant Hirchen. There are three courses and dessert, assuming a cable doesn't snap.
The ride is only four times a summer, 7-9:30 pm. Dates for 2007 are: June 14, July 5, August 9 and August 30. Dinner is 120 Swiss Franks (More than $90), more for only 2 to a gondola (they seat 4). You need to reserve.

Eating in Trams
Yes, you can eat on that utilitarian, track-bound public transportation vehicle called a tram in Germany and Milan, Italy.
Sightseeing in Frankfurt, Germany with the Ebbelwei-Express
Ok, this is just a fun ride an the Apple Wine Express, a one-hour sightseeing trip with apple wine (or apple juice) accompanied by music and pretzels. You can hop on and off the bus when you want. You can do this on weekends and holidays. You can rent an entire tram if you need privacy.

Dinner on a Tram in Milan, Italy
Perhaps eating on a tram isn't the most appetizing of a traveler's dreams. After all, it's an act that is forbidden or at least discouraged on most of the world's overpopulated tram lines. But in fashionable Milan, any idea that starts with food just has to be good. So, the gourmet oriented management of ATM in Milan (ATM is Milan's transportation company, disgorging people, not cash) decided to stuff a whole restaurant inside one of those cute orange trams and run it around the city at night while folks chow down on multi-course meals with wine, all for 50 Euros a pop. They call it ATMosphere. Clever.
