Dijon is seldom mentioned outside of discussions about mustard, yet its historic center is a magical place of glazed roofs, pedestrian streets, half-timbered houses, 17th century mansions, the Saint Benign Cathedral and its ancient crypt, and the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy with a vast public square in front. And there's mustard, of course, as well as some of the world's best wine. We liked Dijon a lot.
It's not hard to get a good picture of towns like Dijon, especially when the sky is brooding dark as evening settles and people start frequenting the cafes and wine bars in the public squares.
