The palace of Dijon (Palais des Ducs de Bourgogne) is now the city hall. Starting around 1365 it was the throne of the powerful Dukes of Burgundy. The tower of Philippe le Bon you see in the center of the picture allows an impressive view of the Dijon city for robust stair-climbers.

There is a wonderful square in front of the palace with wine bars, cafes, and restaurants as well as a rather interesting color fountain that splashes right out of the pavement. Kids love trying to stop the spouts of water that gush from the paving stones.
