There's a lot to like about Estremoz, from it's narrow and winding streets to the castle and tower that is today part of the Pousada Rainha Santa Isabel, a castle at the highest point of Estremoz that you can stay in. Estremoz has had a tradition of producing clay figures since the 18th century that you can see in the municipal museum, where you can also visit a shop that features the folks who can make them to order, or you can simply buy one off the shelf.
For lunch you can visit an Adega, a wine tavern with rustic food, some of the best in Portugal.
