Guide Review - La Maison de La Riviere Bed and Breakfast Accommodations
It's not often that you get to stay in a hotel that reflects the village's history. Esperaza was once the second largest producer of hats in Europe, and La Maison de La Riviere was once owned by a hat mogul. The restoration by owner Sasha Goldberg, an architect, hasn't changed the atmosphere of luxury that you'd expect when staying at the home of an industry leader. She even plans to use the hallways to display local artist's work in the near future.
You'll get all this for about 50 Euros a couple, along with breakfast from the incredibly spacious breakfast room.
La Maison de La Riviere is 35 minutes from Carcassonne, and 2 hours from Girona, Spain. There's a hat museum and dinosaur museum in the village. On Sundays the village of Esperaza comes alive with a huge market just steps away from the hotel. It's a short drive to Rennes le Chateau.
