I've given you the contact information for Tourism offices for towns in which they exist. Tourist Offices are the independent traveler's best friend. They'll find you lodging to your specification, they're a wealth of information on events and attractions, and there's most always a city walk or two on the agenda on any given week day.
Most tourism offices keep listings of independent guides. Want a tour specifically adapted to your interests? Just make a list of what you'd like to see and know, then ask--it's likely the office of tourism can provide someone with knowlege in that area. Why waste time on your all-too-short vacation?
The compact area of the Pope's Bavaria makes it an ideal area to explore. Most of the main places are accessible by train, all by car. If you have time, check out the Lake Chiemsee area and take a tour of the Herrenchiemsee Palace (Schloss Herrenchiemsee), modeled after Versailles by King Ludwig.
Munich and Salzburg are also easily visited from the Pope's Bavaria.
Have fun planning your trip to Germany's Southern Bavaria. Wave if you see the pope. I heard he's friendly, and why not? Bavarians are known for their hospitality.
And finally, perhaps you need a Guidebook to Bavaria?
