Helsinki Airport Guide: Helsinki Vantaa

Helsinki Vantaa Airport (HEL) is located in Vantaa, Finland, 19 km (11.5 miles) north of the city center of Helsinki. The airport is a hub for Finnair.

Helsinki Airport is shown on the map by a blue marker, Helsinki center is below, directly to the south.

Helsinki airport is a gateway to Asia, and especially Russia. Being a large country with lots of remote outposts, small planes fly to many small cities in Finland, making flying a more popular transportation choice than you might think. Thus, Helsinki airport is a hub for visiting the more remote locations in Finland.

Getting To Helsinki Airport

By Car: From Helsinki city centre, Tuusula road (marked Hwy 45 on the map) north takes you to the airport; follow the signs. See the map for other routes.

By Bus: Helsinki bus 615  takes around. 35 minutes (timetable) to get to the airport. You can also take a Finnair City Bus from downtown Helsinki. For timetables go to Finnair's website. Wikimapia has a map with locations of the bus stops for the two types of buses.
