Sanremo--you might know it as San Remo--is a resort town on the Ligurian coast. Despite its reputation and famous casino, Sanremo isn't the uber-expensive money drain you might think.
If you're a boater, you might find the two harbors a place for your dreams. If you like medieval towns clinging to hillsides, you would prefer La Pigna, the medieval core of the city (once its own village) composed of narrow lanes and little piazzas in a confusing concentric ring configuration made to confound invaders and tourists. People settled here around the year 1000.
