Belem is about 6km west of the commercial center of Lisbon. Belem is easily reached by taking tram 15 from the Praca Do Comercio. The neighborhood along the Tagus river is charming, and contains many destinations of tourist interest, including the Monastery of Jeronimos, The Belem cultural center, Belem tower, and the Monument of Discoveries, celebrating Portugal's role in exploring the globe and constructed to celebrate the 500th birthday of Henry the Navigator.
