Guide Review - Il Giglio Hotel - Montalcino Italy Hotel Review
We took a room, and were amazed at both the room and the view. There was a bottle of the house wine, elegant glassware for two and a corkscrew. The room was air conditioned. The cost was so reasonable I couldn't believe the wine was free, but it was.
Alas, the wine had become too expensive, the family who owns Il Giglio told me, and they've discontinued providing it. But that hardly changes my opinion of the place as one of my most memorable hotels in Italy. After all, you can walk out the door and across the piazza to an enotecca and buy all the wine you want, or drink a glass outside. There are also 160 wineries in the area.
Bottom line? A room at il Giglio is a steal for the ambiance alone.
