Lugano is the largest town in the Ticino, Switzerland's southern, Italian speaking canton. It's a popular tourist destination for those active travelers interested in trekking or boating activities, or for the stroller who likes to relax, look at beautiful scenery, and--for the reasonably wealthy--shop.
To meet these criteria, Lugano has a large pedestrian zone, lots of restaurants and cafes, and lots of parks to wander around in, including the lakeside Parco Ciani, one of the most interesting.
