The Pfalz, or Palatinate region of Germany is home to Germany's oldest wine road. Die Pfalz is the warmest and driest of German wine regions. 45 white and 22 red grape varieties are found in the Palatinate, but Riesling and Müller-Thurgau dominate the white wines; Dornfelder, Portugieser, and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir)the red wines.
