Guide Review - Hotel Restaurant Rebmann Review
In my travels, especially in the off-season, I like my hotel to have a decent restaurant. Then, if it's raining or cold, I don't have to walk or drive anywhere to eat. The Hotel Rebmann has an excellent and quite reasonable restaurant inside. It's the family-run atmosphere and the great reastaurant that make the Rebmann a good choice, especially during the fall harvest season. Our room fronted the road that runs through town. It's easy to find this road because it's well-marked as the Southern Wine Route. The double-paned glass windows kept out what little noise there was in the village.
The room was standard size--no room to hold a ballroom dance, but enough room you could get around. There was a small area with two seats around a table that contained a bottle of mineral water and two glasses. There was also a desk (and plenty of elecrical outlets) that functioned well for a computer space
The bathroom was plenty big, with a shower and no tub, which is what I prefer. There was plenty of water pressure.
The restaurant made the experience of staying at the hotel a memorable one. Meat eaters who aren't squeamish will love the rabbit/quail/fois gras combination that I found superb. There are great soups, and a tasting menu is offered.
Wines, as is typical of the area, are served in 250 ml portions, a third of a bottle. Wine lovers can thus try several wines with dinner. Most are local wines you can get in the village or an adjacent town.
And, as is the case in many countries, the kitchen staff knows the most languages, and they were called upon to talk to us in Engliah when we couldn't understand something. so, everything worked out in the end.
