Here is a map showing the villages along the central Germany wine road. The area of the map is shown on the map of Germany as the area represented by the green rectangle within the Rhineland - Palatinate (Rheinland-Pfalz) state of Germany.

St. Martin is worth a stop for its architecture and wine shops and tasting rooms. Edenkoben is a compleling stop as well. Hainfeld has a part in Discovery Day 2007, the Palatinate's big harvest festival:

In keeping with tradition, a colourful entertainment programme including music, sports, and games will be offered along the entire Wine Route. This lengthy festival of gastronomic pleasures will be officially opened at 10:00 a.m. in the picturesque village of Hainfeld, which is celebrating its 1,225th anniversary this year. The patron of the festival – the Prime Minster of Rhineland Palatinate, Kurt Beck – as well as the Palatinate Wine Queen, Katja Schweder, will be present at the opening ceremonies. ~ Discovery Day along the German Wine Route under the Motto "Culinary Palatinate"

Neustadt, with a full name of Neustadt an der Weinstrasse, is a pleasant market town with half-timbered buildings and we recommend staying there. Have lunch in the main market square, and be sure to visit the famous "odd animals spitting fountain," the Elwedritsche fountain.

To the west of the German Wine Road are the hills of the Palatinate Forest Reserve, with many castles (including the Burg Frankenstein to the northwest of Neustadt), hiking trails, and picnic areas.
