Once a small fishing village and port of maritime power Amalfi, today Positano derives its wealth almost entirely from tourism. Everywhere the views are compelling, and the fish you eat at dinner are fresh.
There's lots to do in Positano for the well-heeled shopper and the beach crowd. Otherwise, a day trip for the views is all it takes.
Positano is a fine place to sit down for a fish dinner or for the simple cuisine of the Amalfi Coast. Chef Mario Batali offers: "In the town of Positano, my faves are Capitano, high above the sea, and Chez Black, right down on the sea."
We enjoyed lunch at La Cambusa. When you get to the beach from town, turn left until you see it. The fish are fresh, as you can see from the picture.
