The wines of Hermitage are legendary. If you take the train through the Rhone valley, you'll be struck by the steep, vine-covered slopes of the Hermitage wine region above the town of Tain-l'Hermitage, across the river from Tournon sur Rhone.
We stayed in Tournon sur Rhone for a couple of nights to explore the region and its wines. For walkers who like compelling scenery, this is a wonderful place to spend a few days.
