In the 16th century, towers placed along the high spots above the Rhone where built to protect the castle in Tournon sur Rhone. Today a pleasant walk above the city will give you excellent views of the Rhone river, the vineyards of Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage on the opposite (sunnier) side of the Rhone, as well as views of the village of Tournon sur Rhone and its castle.
