Picture of the Trevi fountain in Rome

Trevi Fountain - Rome
Bernini, who started the fountain and Pietro da Cortona both had a hand in this street surprise of a fountain. But the death of Pope Urban VIII halted work and about a hundred years later Nicola Salvi finished it. Tourists throw coins in the fountain to guarantee their return to Rome, but recently a homeless man was accussed of gobbling up 600 Euros a day in coins by plunging into the fountain during the early morning.
